GENERAL RULES
- Bringing food , beverage (except water) and smoking is prohibited in the library.
- It is mandatory for users to put their cell phone on silent mode.
- Group works and studying loudly is not allowed at the tables.
- Books are arranged according to the Dewey classification system. The books should not be put back on shelf, they should be left on the tables.
Publications are protected by electronic security systems in the library. Publications should not be taken out of the library without permission. If deemed necessary in all kinds of bags and personal belongings may be searched by library staff.
- Users who do not comply with the rules, causes problems, prevents library employees from undertaking their duties and ruin the discipline and the tranquility of the library will be made to leave by the staff.
- Unattended bags or personal belongings can not be left in the library. Left or forgotten items are send to security by the library staff and no responsibility is accepted.
Borrowing Policy
- Girne American University Library is open to all instructors, administrative staff and the students.
- Users who do not have Student ID / Staff ID can not benefit from the borrowing policy.
Originals of the sources such as; Counseling resources, periodicals, newspapers, dissertations, and non-printed CD-ROM, videotapes and disks can not be borrowed.
- Library may want back any borrowed material before the due date.
In case of loss or damage to library items reader is obliged to provide the same borrowed feed.In case of non-supply price equal to the fair value and new editions in a similar case would provide a further publication.
- LIBRID library program records are taken as basis in all loan transactions.

Purchasing Policy
- The requested resource should support the university’s education and training programs.
- Literary and cultural artifacts appropriate to their levels that will help the users to evaluate their extracurricular and cultural developments
- The resources suggested by teaching staff for research and education are prioritizedand purchased in accordance to collection integrity and requirements.
- Actuality (Library will provide the latest edition of the ordered source)
- If lost publications can not be found within a certain period of time they are re-purchased according to utilization rate and demand.
- Publications that can not be used physically are re-purchased according to utilization rate and demand,
- Suggestions of critics and university members
Donation Policy
- The ones which has a outdated the qualifications from the donated collections other than handwriting and rare printed works will not be accepted.
- if donated books (excluding reserves publications) already exists in the library’s collections, they will not be accepted.
- Library director has the right to decide the sections and in accordance with the rules whether the donations made to the publications should be provided to users
- They are accepted if the covers of the multivolume works like magazines, encyclopedias etc. creates an integrity
- The head of department has the right to return the accepted publications and books or donate to another library if deemed appropriate.
- Photocopied broadcasts, publications and continuity in bad physical condition cannot be achieved without in a good shape periodicals are not accepted as donations.
- An appreciation letter is send to the grantor or corporation
- The Library is not responsible for the announcement of the list of donations. However, the lists of donations are kept.
- The number of donated material and integrity issues cannot be edited in a separate section in the library. They are placed according to the classification number in the general collection.
Materials excluded from the collection
- Those which are contrary to the current T. C. law
- Separate editions of the journal articles and book sections
- The ones who are inapplicable to the structure of the university in terms of subject and language
- Those which are outdated except manuscripts and rare printed ones.
- The ones which are replicated with copies (photocopies etc.) and / or which will create a copyright problem,
- Newspapers,
- Periodical publications which are non-printed and intelocutory and multivolume works as encyclopedia etc without cover integrity,
- Physically unsuitable and worn ones.
